HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! It was a beautiful day to start the new flying year. I flew over the hill to Petaluma for the PAPA chili lunch and to be entertained watching one of the largest reciprocating round aircraft engines run statically. AIRPORT HAPPENINGS- the Thanksgiving weekend weather was spectacularly warm and clear. I hope some of you aviators were able to give a few valley rides to your out of town guests. I could almost see the Sierra’s from 4,000 ft. over Sonoma Mountain on Friday noon. Young Eagles was well attended Sunday, Nov 10th. Twenty nine young people were given valley rides in ideal conditions. I personally gave three young people their first ride and that is really gratifying. AIRPORT HAPPENINGS- Yesterdays rain showers cleared the skies for a beautiful sunny October first. Tom Palmer is the first takeoff this morning in the Palmer’s J-3 Cub. Jasmine VillaSenor has returned to Skypark working in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday and we are happy to have her back. Jorge Oros is still working for the airport, but working around his Santa Rosa Jr. College schedule. He and Curtis Presten have taken over the cooking duties in the clubhouse on Saturday’s at noon. To get things started in an aeronautical manner on New Year’s Day, the Petaluma Area Pilots Association (PAPA) is hosting a chili & corn bread lunch. Skypark Family Fun Day. Wow, all of Jeanette Woods planning came together on a warm Saturday in October. I want to thank everyone in the Skypark family who lent a hand setting up the airport, advertising the event, soliciting donations, cooking the food, greeting the airport visitors, donating rides in their aircraft, driving the hay wagon tractor, selling raffle tickets and parachute bingo chances, and cleaning up after the big day.
